COMMENTS: This Matchless was purchased by owner's father in 1978. While the owner was living in Texas in the 1990s, he began a partial restoration of the bike but did not complete the work. It was brought to us in 2009. We started by disassembling the bike to the bare frame, strip, prime & paint the frame & all other parts. After frame painting, re-assembly including inspected & repaired the inner primary cover mounting bolts, checked ignition timing & cleaned the points in the magneto. Installed horn & dip switch and a new horn and created a horn bracket. Installed a new 12-volt battery, battery tray & battery strap. Installed 3-wire Podtronics rectifier/regulator. Installed new fuel line, replaced fork oil & seals, replaced front & rear tires, installed new wiring harness, installed carburetor inlet boot (air box to carburetor). Added a custom kill switch, ignition switch, and headlight switch. Replaced the oil hoses, front fork seal holders, and polished the front & rear fenders, primary cover, points cover, timing cover, valve adjustment cover & transmission cover, front & rear wheel hubs, and front fork lowers. We sent out for re-chroming the shifter pedal, kick start pedal, exhaust pipe, and 2 fork top nuts. The fender stay required repair work. A custom made number plate was created by Randy & installed. All created were 2 mounting brackets for the exhaust. Last item added was a rear number plate obtained from a shop in the UK that Randy rolled the edges & painted. This
service & paint took over 58 labor hours, parts extra.
