1967 BSA Spitfire Mark III
Level A Restoration
Owner: Norm G. of Virginia
COMMENTS: Unfortunately, I have no pictures of the bike undergoing restoration. Other than the first picture, all others are "After". The work performed on this basket case included rebuilding both wheels, complete (top & bottom) rebuild of the engine including boring the cylinders & grinding the valves, new pistons & rings, new crankshaft bearings, and new rod bearings. Also on the bike are a new clutch, new stator, new shift selector, new transmission bearings, new headlight bucket, new battery, new gas cap, new rubber gauge cups. The front forks were rebuilt with new seals & boots and the steering head bearings were replaced. New old stock headlight ears were installed. The gasoline tank & side covers were painted but the frame was previously powder coated. It was upgraded to a Boyer electronic ignition, rebuild the stock Amal carburetors, new Borrani alloy wheels with stainless steel spokes, running 190 mm front brake hub, new front & rear wheel bearings, new front & rear brakes, new chain & sprocket, new Dunlop tires, sealed the interior of the European fiberglass 5 gallon touring tank, all new cables, new wiring harness, new exhaust headers & mufflers, new low handlebar, new handlebar grips, new ammeter, new decals, new old stock Lucas horn, and all new foot peg rubbers. This bike is particularly special because it came with its original tool kit. The bike turned into a stunning beauty that rode & handled very well.
